i tried to start firefox in safemode, so I could remove Yahoo that attached itself. I followed the instructions, but all it did was redirect me when I clicked on the restart in safemode. it too me back to the instruction page. I am using windows 8. I never wanted Yahoo, it just appeared

I think you have problem with loading Yahoo, when open your Mozilla. If that's your problem, change your home page. for that select Tools> options> General. There is the options to set home page as you like. If you don't want any home page select option show a blank page for 'when Firefox starts'. Or you can type any site link at home page with a box option.
