Can't copy and paste from Firefox 22.0 anymore other than ctrl c & v
Normally I would select/wrap text in Firefox and right click and choose copy from the top of menu, click and go to Word,Notepad etc. and go to paste but nothing there paste item in menu greyed out.
It works ok ctrl v and c but is frustrating because the built-in function is so much cleaner
- UPDATE - Downloaded Firefox 23.0 Beta1 - problem is gone - works again - Thanks all!!
Modified
Chosen solution
The developers have created a fix for this problem for future versions of Firefox (Firefox 23+). Unfortunately, there's no immediate solution for Firefox 22.
The current beta of Firefox 23 does not yet contain the fix. It is included in beta 6, but that is not yet available through the "all beta" page.
Update: The main beta page now offers beta "8" which has the fix. The file you download should have 23.0b8 in the file name.
Note: Firefox 23 is scheduled for release on August 6th, but it isn't pushed out to everyone all at once. You might need to visit the main install page to get it if your Firefox doesn't detect the new version on the 6th or 7th.

Excellent suggestion, my good man! I'll hop over to ZA's site as well and express concern.
If and when I make a downgrade (or upgrade) I'll update the thread with results. I've a few things going on coming up so time is thin!
Also, thank you for telling me about Aurora. Sounds like its kind of like a public alpha, for lack of any other explanation. Now I understand it's basically what's-to-come with Firefox 24! :D
I've downgraded back to 21.0. My copy and paste woes are resolved.
Hello,
I am also using the very popular Zonealarm firewall and I am extremely upset with this very annoying bug.
For the first time in many many years I'm considering uninstalling Firefox and use Google Chrome.
PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP
Thanks for looking at this issue.
Same problem as the ones above. I am running WinXP on a virtual machine. No antivirus. Been using FF on this machine for many years and letting it auto-update.
- No success with safe mode (disable add-ons) and reset firefox. - Copy to clipboard works fine after reinstalling v21.
- A "clean install" of FF v22 solved my issue.
- EDIT: but it solved my issue for only one day (next reboot). The problem has returned.
Actually I didn't follow the guidelines for "clean install" completely. I forgot to uninstall FF. I simply deleted the Mozilla Firefox folder and then did a install of FF v22. Anyway it works. Maybe it's the installer that fail to update all the files needed for CTRL+C to work ? I wish I had saved all the files before deleting them so I could compare them with the "clean install".
Modified
Really frustrating to update and then not be able to copy and paste websites. Will go back to Firefox version prior to 22.0.
Thanks for the suggestions!
This was the ticket after many unproductive attempts with other "solutions." Type "about:config" with no quote marks into the address bar in Firefox and hit enter; then type CLIPB into the search bar at the top of the page; then change line DOM.EVENT.CLIPBOARD EVENTS.ENABLED from *True* to *False* by double-clicking on the line. Worked like a charm for me and I now have Ctrl X,C,V back for remove/copy/paste functions. Be very careful not to change anything else when working in this area, as a bad move can "brick" Firefox.
As a security issue in Firefox, turning this function on or off should be made an easily accessible option for end users so one does not have to go into the configuration guts of the program to make this change.
UPDATE: This fix has stopped working for me; I'm back to square one. Sorry to say I may have to change over to Chrome as my main browser if this problem is not resolved in the next version. ZoneAlarm has no effect on the cut/copy/paste function in Chrome, so the problem still lies within Firefox. Mozilla needs to take responsibility for the introduction of this bug.
Modified
Same problem for me. Safe mode and upgrading to the beta didn't work, downgrading to 21 did.
I am not certain this issue is due to ZoneAlarm as some have commented above. It seems to be an issue with Firefox v 22.0 itself. Rolling back my Firefox to v 21.0 resolved the issue for me. I will hold off allowing Firefox to update until this issue with v 22.0 is resolved.
Here's the thing with bugs ...
Everything works GREAT until a new release, then there is an issue.
Firefox community points fingers at, let's say, ZoneAlarm and ZoneAlarm points back at Firefox. It's always somebody else's issue.
"I apologize you're having difficulties with our product since we've released a new version. Try contacting <somebody that isn't us> and see if they can help you fix it!"
This mentality is a plague among all communities and needs to STOP. Advising people to uninstall an application they've been loyal to for over a decade (as in my case) is ludicrous.
But but but ... it fixes the problem!
No, it doesn't fix the problem. Mozilla released a broken product.
It's not a bug, it's a feature!
- facepalm*
All-in-all, the issue didn't exist until 22.0's release and thus, is a Mozilla issue. Recommending a modification of any kind of a non-related software (despite how that 3rd party affects the 1st party's software) is not a fix -- permanent or temporary. It's irresponsible.
I wish, in a perfect world, that any community would have more of a mindset of -- You know, you're right. The product is broken since we released a new version and we will be researching a fix so we can release a HotFix ASAP.
We ALL have different schools of thought here and I've merely shared mine among 7 billion others on Earth ... however, I just feel mine is a little more responsible than uninstalling ZoneAlarm for a fix, downgrading, upgrading to beta or what ever the angle may be.
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox. I just had to vent for a moment.
Hello gothiqvanity
you are correct in a lot of things

correct

it is temporary fix
I wish, in a perfect world, that any community would have more of a mindset of -- You know, you're right.

correct, we are trying : Bug 883554
Sorry, I'll get off my soapbox. I just had to vent for a moment.
you are doing the right thing
Firefox is a free software with all the pros and cons, and in the support forum, the supporting is basically from volunteers.
I'm a simple user like you, if we can help you with anything else, please tell us, really we try to do that.
thank you
Thought my computer was going nuts, and was doing an 'sfc /scannow' while looking around. Was shortly after upgrading Firefox to v22 is where copy & paste became rather miss more than hit.
Was trying to update a post in Facebook.
First version I had transposed two letters, intending calm but typed in clam. Missed a link, so copied that and tries pasting - many times. ctrl+C & V, even mouse copy & paste, eventually got it. Then noticed the typo.
Second version I had corrected the error, and went back to battling copy and paste because I missed the link again. Went I eventually got it, I had assumed it was the second version. - Wrong, was still the first copy & paste version.
Edit: Downgraded to v21 and the issue goes away.
Troubleshooting Text is too large to copy & paste.

Sorry, I started a post myself then found this one.
Now since maybe version 21 if I am in/on a web page and press the RMB, anything in the clipboard is pasted.
Kinda makes it difficult to use the spelling checker.
I'm at a loss to what is going on.
I have the same problem - ZoneAlarm is blocking copy / paste function in FF 22 (in FF 23 beta too) . When I completely disable ZoneAlarm, copy / paste function is working again.
In Firefox version 21 & prior no problem copy & pasting. v22 there was a serious issue never seen prior. Upgraded to beta to get past the annoying upgrade messages when running v21, and no problem there either. Only experienced in Firefox, Opera v12.16 does not have the issue.
However Firefox lately wants to use 400 to 600MB to run with minimal add-ons + Firefox Synchronization enabled. Luckily I also use CacheMan 7 to recover RAM. This is more annoying with playing online games as run the browser in 2 or 3 tabs for social networking & game related data.
Can set a maximum memory to use, and once reaching the set threshold the RAM made available for Forefox gets reset. 500MB+ for a browser? Why??
Try downloading this version of ZA:
ZoneAlarm® Free Firewall version 11.0.768.000
This was just released in June 2013!
http://sc1.checkpoint.com/sc1/za/release-history/zafree.html#11.0.768.000
Folks, good news/bad news.
For me: Good. Alas other asking and research revealed that an addon had a setting set - which I didn't set - to make RMB = paste.
While typing this reply, I can - with the mouse - highlight some text, RMB, COPY, then move to another part of the reply box and RMB, PASTE and it works.
So, sorry, but my problem has been resolved.
I can RMB copy/paste and/or ^c ^V copy/paste.
@robpoh: With the newest ZA version the issue still remains.
I could solve it as follows:
under "about:config" (enter in theadress-line from the browser instead the url)
search for:
dom.event.clipboardevents.enabled - set them from true > false clipboard.autocopy - set them to false > true
now it wok in my case.
