When I go to certain sites, Adobe Flash plugin opens numerous ads and it maxes out my CPU. How can I prevent A F plugin from working when I go to these sites? I looked at the list of plugins below and would like to remove most of them. How do I do that?

hello beverly999, enter about:config into the firefox address bar (confirm the info message in case it shows up) & search for the preference named plugins.click_to_play. double-click it and change its value to true, which means that plugins will only run on demand (if you actively activate them).
