Optimizely For 3 days when I start FF everyday I get a cookie "25134714.log.optimizely.com". Is this coming from FF? Read about it, but don't understand it.
I have FF 19.0.2 on a MacBook Pro. I'm wondering if a program is optimizing my computer without my knowing it. How do I get rid of it? or should I not worry about it. TY

Linda33,
"Optimizely" is a company that tracks user behaviour on and across websites using cookies and a bit of javascript that web-masters voluntarily insert into their code. So mozilla.org has chosen to use this third party tracker, but it doesn't do anything that helps you.
So in addition to blocking third-party cookies, use the addon Ghostery at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ghostery/ . After you install it you can block these trackers. For eg, on this site you can click on the "Ghost" icon, then click on the slider next to "Optimizely" to permanently block it.
In fact, you can set Ghostery to block all trackers by default. Very occasionally you'll find one that is required (such as the Disqus tracker to enable their comment servers) but it's easy to selectively turn it back on again for that one tracker.

Thank you Madperson and Paul for your responses, appreciate your time.
I will try the Ghostery and also block the third party cookies.
