Loading Firefox from an Outlook email link takes 68 seconds. It used to be almost instant. How can I fix this?

Opening Firefox on it's own is a little slower than it used to be, but happens in about 3-4 seconds. Opening from Outlook takes an exceptionally long time - 68 seconds at latest count. I have run process manager and have a long text file I can provide if it would be helpful - I just don't know how to interpret it. Many thanks

Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache. Note: This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to. To clear cache and cookies do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
  2. Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
  3. Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
  4. From the details list, check Cache and Cookies and uncheck everything else.
  5. Now click the Clear now button.

Further information can be found in the Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox article.

Hi gtasue, that's definitely too long.

Does it make any difference whether Firefox is already running?

Can you associate the appearance of the long delay with any changes, such as a Firefox update, add-on update, security software update, etc.?

Do you start Firefox in any special way, e.g., -no-remote command line switch, or sandbox or virtualization software?

Thanks to both of you - you both sent me in the right direction. I ended up resetting Firefox, creating a new profile, and copying over the data I wanted from the old profile. It is now loading much faster! Love this community - so helpful for we Luddites!

I have marked "clear history when closing down" , but I still have the problem ?
