Whenever I press F11 or click fullscreen, my address bar and tabs don't collapse as they normally do. How do I fix this?

I recently hooked up another monitor to my laptop, which was when the problem occurred, but even after I restarted Firefox *and* my computer, it still didn't work. By collapsing, I mean when you press F11, the the open tabs and address bar appear smaller, and then they slide upwards until you can't see it (unless you mouse over it). Please help me fix this =)

Thanks!

Chosen solution

You can right-click the Tab Bar or the Navigation Toolbar in full screen mode (F11) and make sure that "Hide Toolbars" has a check mark.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Hi rattailjimmy

So you see the toolbars in full screen mode (F11) and can't hide them to make them only appear if you hover the mouse to the top of the screen?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

You can check for problems with preferences and try to rename or delete the prefs.js file and possible numbered prefs-##.js files and a possible user.js file to reset all prefs to the default values.
