Although I have many add-ons, only one shows on my add-on bar (Adblock Plus). I am using Firefox 18.0.1.

The following are two ways I have tried to fix the issue, but to no avail, unfortunately:

Deleted files from my profile folder as stated on a mozilla support website, and restarted firefox.

Using Revo Unistaller did a deep uninstall (not only removes all firefox program files but also registry entries, user pref. etc), rebooted machine. Downloaded and installed 18.0.1 from Mozilla and re-added all add-ons that I primarily use. I also tried using classic compact theme, but reverted back to default to try and solve this problem.

Not all extension place buttons on a toolbar.
Some extensions add entries to the main menu and others to the right-click context menu that are shown when it applies to the situation.

Which extensions are you referring to that do not show up?

You can also check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

In order to uninstall a possibly unwanted extension, please do the following:

  1. From the Firefox window click the Firefox button at the top left and select Add-ons, or, if the Firefox button is not shown, click the Tools menu and click Add-ons.
  2. Once the Add-on Manager has opened in a new tab, click the Extensions button on the left side of the window.
  3. You should now see a list of your installed extensions on the right side together with buttons on the right side of each extension.
  4. To remove an extension from Firefox, simply click the Remove button. You should see a message that informs you about the successful removal of the add-on.
  5. Note that some add-ons require a Firefox restart to be removed completely. To perform a Firefox restart after the add-on removal, click the Restart now link in the message.

Hi,

Thanks for trying but unfortunately removing the add-ons is not the problem. Neither is installing them. My problem is that once installed they do not show up on my add-on bar. The only way i even know that the add-ons have been installed is to click on Tools in the Firefox menu bar and then click on add-ons. It shows me a list of Add-ons - Extensions, for which i can only click either the "options", "disable", or "remove" buttons.

Thanks

Thanks cor-el!

I created a screen shot of my addons/extensions, deleted my localstore.rdf then reinstalled addons and wella! Sad thing is, I should've known this. I've worked in the systems field for a long time. I'll just go with the excuse that my specialty is hardware... ;)

Thanks again,

Alison
