Hello, since I started using Firefox 18.0 on Windows 8 it continuosly show webpages wrong. It works fine when I empty the cache but after a while it starts showing some wepages completely wrong. I have to empty the cache like 3 times a day and this bothers me. Is there any proper solution for this? The only adonn I've installed so far is adblock.

The Reset Firefox feature can fix many issues by restoring Firefox to its factory default state while saving your essential information. Note: This will cause you to lose any Extensions, Open websites, and some Preferences.

To Reset Firefox do the following:

  1. Go to Firefox > Help > Troubleshooting Information.
  2. Click the "Reset Firefox" button.
  3. Firefox will close and reset. After Firefox is done, it will show a window with the information that is imported. Click Finish.
  4. Firefox will open with all factory defaults applied.

Further information can be found in the Refresh Firefox - reset add-ons and settings article.

I just did that, it fixed the problem like when I empty the cache. I hope it lasts, I'll tell you later. Can I install the addblock add-on?

In what way did the websites look wrong?

Which security software (firewall, anti-virus) do you have?

Make sure that it isn't blocking CSS files or otherwise modifying HTTP response headers.

A possible cause is security software (firewall,anti-virus) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.

Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

I am sorry Tylerdowner. I just restarted my computer today and it started again, Youtube is showing like there is no CSS applied. And I didn't installed the add-on. Cor-el, the only security software I have is the one coming with Windows 8. I'm adding a screenshot of the Youtube main page (every Youtube page is now shown like that, but support.mozilla is ok). Also I must add that I can't have any malware, since this computer is new (3 weeks) and this glitch started since I have Firefox.

Try to reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.

  • Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
  • Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
  • Press "Command + Shift + R" (MAC)

Try to boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support (press F8 on the boot screen) as a test to see if that helps to prevent this issue.

You can also try to reset (power off/on) the router.

I don't know if it's a good or a bad thing, but since you wrote that response the glitch didn't came again. I will try installing adBlock in a week and tell you if anything change.
