firefox title bar disappears

Posted

The title bar , minimize, and close window disappear. I found some help but it does not work for very long.

Chosen solution

Just a note on TITLE Bar missing.

I recently had a problem with (title bar missing), I think that was with Version 19. As of version 20.0.1 there have been no problems the Title bar has not disappeared.

It was never full screen mode.

This can happen if you run Firefox in full screen mode: press F11 to toggle.

If you are in full screen mode then hover the mouse to the top to make the Navigation Toolbar and Tab bar appear.
Click the Maximize button (top right corner of the Navigation Toolbar) to leave full screen mode or right click empty space on a toolbar and use "Exit Full Screen Mode" or press F11.

You can also check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

Question owner

I never use full screen.

What I did was -- View > Toolbars > Menu

turned off/on I've done this many times before without success that's all I did and it has work every since??? don't care why?

I'm back, from IE9 and Google Chrome. I guess, I've been using FF too long. I loaded up my add-ons and have been using it all day and did not lose the Title bar once.

Did you try to delete the localstore.rdf file in the Firefox Profile Folder?

You can use this button to go to the Firefox profile folder:

  • Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder

Question owner

That should have been taken care when I re-install everything. For now, I'm not doing anything because it's been fine for 2 days Thank you to everyone that has made suggestion.

The Title bar is disappearing, again.

I had a good run for awhile, now, it's disappearing. I installed 18.0.2 awhile ago and it was running fine

Now, the title bar will not appear on my browsers.

Can you attach a screenshot?

Use a compressed image type like PNG or JPG to save the screenshot.

You can check for problems with the localstore.rdf file.

Question owner

It's the same problem I've been having in both version 17 and now v18.

I can't give you a screen shot right now because everything is fine. I given them in previous posts.

No title bar, top line is the menu, it's not full screen mode (I would not see the menu in full screen mode).

Question owner

screen shot with no title bar above the menu.

Did you try Safe mode?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).

  • Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe mode start window or otherwise make changes.

Question owner

I can't right now but I just updated to version 19.0 It's fine, But i'll see what happens with v19.

Question owner

I got an answer. As soon as opened another browser the title bar was gone. I can't believe I'm the only one with this problem?

I'll try what safe mode thing tonight.

Question owner

I tried safe mode and it worked. so far, it's still ok. But, I've been fine for months before with the same add-ons my addons are:

Adblock Plus 2.2.3. CSHelper 1.0, DownloadHelper 4.9.13, Multirow Bookmarks Toolbar Plus 1.2, New Tab Homepage 0.4.3 RealDownloader 1.3.0, Remove It Permanently 1.0.6.10

I am having this problem and am stuck in full-screen mode, I do NOT have an F11 key, and sliding the mouse pointer to the top of the screen and right-clicking will not display a short menu to exit full screen mode. I also can not hover at the top to make the "min" "max" and "close" button appear, it is not working. Ant other commands to help get out of full screen?

Can you open the system menu via Alt+ Space?

If that works then see if you can un-maximize and resize the window.

You can check for problems caused by a corrupted localstore.rdf file.

happyhannah31,

That's not Fullscreen mode, with the Location bar and the Bookmarks Toolbar showing. Depending upon your operating system the titlebar disappears when the browser window is Maximized. A full-width screenshot would be nice to see.
