I'm running on Mac OS X 10.7.4, Firefox 14.0.1. This issue didn't exist until this most recent Firefox update. Basically, a preference pane opens every time data is being entered into a field. It doesn't seem to be the same preference pane that you see when you open the preferences through the normal Firefox access ie. Firefox > Preferences. All of the choices listed in this particular preference pane are specific to Firefox though. I have a screen capture that I could include if wanted. When using 1Password the pane appears, when entering a search in the search bar near the address bar the pane pops up, when entering data into any field as I am now filling in this detail report the pane also pops up. It's quite annoying. Any advice? I'm going to systematically attempt to quit any add-ons and see if that makes a difference. I ave already tried doing a reinstall to no avail.

Does this still happen if you disable the other extension except 1Password?

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe Mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

I think a screen shot would be helpful. There is a box below the compose area of a reply to upload files.

Hi jscher2000,

Thanks for addressing this with me. Attached is the window that kept popping open. I should have done this before posting but I guess I was being a little impulsive in my frustration, and that is I should have gone through the process of removing the add-ons and re-enabling them before posting here. After posting I went through that process and so far the issue has not come up again. I still have a couple of add-ons to add back into the equation to be totally sure but so far no issues. After I started this process and looking more closely at my different add-ons I was pretty sure the window popping up belonged to Configuration Mania and thus thought that the issue lied there somewhere. While I still think that was Configuration Mania's preference window since re-enabling Configuration Mania the issue hasn't come up again so maybe something else was triggering Configuration Mania...?

Anyway, I have most of my add-ons re-enabled at the moment and it's been smooth sailing so far, I'm happy to say. Still a couple more to go before I know for sure.

Anyway, thank you for your time!

Cheers, Pendimar

Hi cor-el,

Thank you so much for your suggestions! Prior to getting your post I went back in and disabled all add-ons. I didn't think of going through the safe-mode check, but will try to keep that in mind if it rears it's ugly head again. As you can see from my other reply after disabling and then one by one re-enabling (most of) my add-ons it is running smoothly again. I still have a couple others to re-activate. So I guess we'll see. But so far s good. Again thank you so much for taking the time to address my issue. I really appreciate it!

Cheers, Pendimar
