Firefox 12 is very slow to load pages and if two tabs are opening it lags. I've tried everything (e.g virus, defrag, I've created a new profile in "run", etc). I've had my router/line etc all checked and after 2 weeks of cleaning/testing etc its all pointing to Firefox as the problem. Please help as it's driving me nuts.

I've no idea whats happened but I've done a system back up thingy to about a month ago and it seems to be better, I can now open five tabs at one time to games sites in approx 10 seconds which is great. maybe I've done too much fiddling with the system. I think I'll be content with it now and stop bothering you madperson ;-) Next job now is to find out why half my FN keys don't work. Cheers for all your help.Read this answer in context 👍 0

I have the exact same problem.
Not only does it load pages very slowly, sometimes the page will stop for a good 45 seconds and stop loading, only to finish it much later.
Something is wrong with Firefox 12, it shouldn't be this slow.
How is that each version is progressively worse than the one before it?.
Stop releasing so many versions Mozilla, release one that works and build from there.
seasick12, have you already tried to uninstall the avast webrep plugin from inside avast? http://support.avast.com/index.php?languageid=1&group=eng&_m=...
you might also want to upgrade to the newest driver for your integrated graphics for hardware accelleration to work properly. this should be the correct download for your system: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=17409...

Hardware acceleration must be broken, because I have a Radeon HD 6850 1gb and with Hardware acceleration on, it makes Firefox 12 much much slower.
have you made sure you are updates to the current 12.4 drivers for your graphics card?
Thanks for the replies folks, I've turned off hardware acceleration and when I check my chipset driver (if thats the right one) and windows says it's up to date although it's version 184.108.40.2066
I have the latest driver, but it shouldn't make ANY difference between 12.3 and 12.4.
I really wonder what the Mozilla developers are thinking. Every version is slower and slower and falling farther away from Internet Explorer. Did they not learn from the collapse of Netscape before? I upgraded to version 9, 10, 11 and now 12 and Firefox is getting progressively worse as they almost planned it this way. It's weird.. I am forced to use good 'ol Internet Explorer 9 which is still very fast loading pages and I may give Chrome a shot if the Firefox browser keeps going down the hole. Mozilla, don't say we have not told you so before it is all over!
I was having the same problem until I found a suggestion on another site. I updated my Java installation to the latest version and that solved the problem for me. Firefox 12 is working much better now.
I hope this works for you others having this problem.
74 people have this problem over the last four days, What's happening firefox????
110 now and still no attempt at a solution.
Just re-install your windows. I had a problem like this(not the same you). I changed my profile and I did many things. Finally I re-installed my windows. Now it works with no problem. FF lag or any bad behavior can be cause of a problem with your OS. Don't use clean up software. They can damage your windows registry.
How can it be my OS when 132 others have the same problem?? I tried chrome and IE which were fine. It looks like I'll be dumping FF for chrome which I don't really want to do but the support here from FF is nil.
227 people now have this problem firefox!

and yes it is a working solution, install 6.0.32 the latest and you can see the difference, see more in : Unblocking the Java plugin
There's a problem with Firefox 12 and no suggested solutions given here works to solve the problem. You can update your video drivers, Java, Windows, all up-to-date doesn't change Firefox from being so horribly slow. Our ultra fast connections are now as slow as dial-up with how long Firefox 12 takes to load pages. We've had to change all computers back to Firefox 11 to solve the problem. I don't know what they did this time but something is very quirky to cause so many with these slow problems. We get the same results on different computers......Firefox 12 is SLOW!! You'll have to go back to Firefox 11 until they put out a new version 12 release that fixes the slow problems.
I did all this when imexpress suggested it and it still made no difference and if I use chrome its superfast compared to FF12.
