I had this problem too and could not add or move bookmarks either. If you have torbutton addon installed try to disable the addon. maybe it is caused by another addon

Can you give an example of what you are trying to do just so we are clear? I just highlighted part of the text in your original post and then dragged it to the search box successfully. Is that what you are describing? If so, it does work in FF 12 on my end.

I'd try starting Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode. If you don't have the issue while all of your add-ons, extensions, and themes are disabled, you can try adding them back in one by one until you find the culprit. You should look at the Extensions and Themes troubleshooting guide and the Troubleshoot issues with plugins like Flash or Java to fix common Firefox problems article as well.

You could also try Creating a new profile.

Yes Matt_G, we are on the same page

And thank you to both Matt_G and j4ffh; after running FF in safe mode as Matt_G suggested and seeing everything in working order, I disabled TorButton as j4ffh put forward, and am able to drag-and-drop once again.

I should also add, but didn't notice at the time, that I was also unable to drag tabs to rearrange them; this has been solved as well.

The Torbutton version 1.4.5.1 (17 Dec 2011) is effecting the drag & drop functionality in Firefox 12. I uninstalled it and installed the version 1.4.4 and everything is working again. Here is the link https://archive.torproject.org/tor-package-archive/torbutton/

This issue has been reported to the Tor project and I hope they will correct the problem in their next release of the Torbutton. For now the older version is at least working to activate Tor in Firefox.

guys, dont waste ur time by back n forth communication, instead just install the follg addon for firefox 12. it works great :)
