Why can I not do a search?

I have google as my search engine. When I type in the search box and hit the magnifying glass, nothing happens. At bottom of page it say Waiting for www.google.com

Chosen solution

Problem was caused by a virus. Ran TDSS Killer and removed it.

Do any web pages load? Like maybe one of your bookmarks?

I can load all my bookmarks. I can also enter a URL and go to a site. I just cannot do a search. I tried changing the search engine and still nothing.
