crashes kept occurring generally when I clicked to go to a new site. I found it always crashed when I tried to enter the second level of security on Barclay-card website: https://bcol.barclaycard.co.uk/ecom/as2/initialLogon.do?x=49&y=35 I have followed the advice given in your page entitled 'Firefox Crashes' and found it did not crash in Safe Mode. I went through all the addons and plug ins and found it didn't crash if I disabled Shockwave Flash 11.1.102.55. However I need Shockwave Flash. Which version is compatible with my system, see below? I have submitted 27 Crash Reports since 16/1/12 this is the latest below

Does Barclays use Trusteer Rapport installed on your computer for security?
I'm making a wild guess that it might be the cause of your problem; that application seems to only be used by UK and European based banks.
That application has been causing a lot of Firefox 8 & Firefox 9 crashes, even when users are running on the Firefox SafeMode.

If so, try the latest version of Rapport or contact Trusteer for support.

Perform the suggestions mentioned in the following articles:

Check and tell if its working.

Might not be related to your problem but some of your other Plugins are out-dated

  • Update All your Firefox Plugins -> https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/plugincheck/
  • When Downloading Plugins Update setup files, Remove Checkmark from Downloading other Optional Softwares with your Plugins (e.g. Toolbars, McAfee, Google Chrome, etc.)

I regret the problem remains; I have tried to follow your helpful suggestions to the best of my ability. I cleared the Cookies and Cache, I troubleshot the extensions and themes, and I reviewed the Managing the Flash plugin page and reinstalled Shockwave Flash 11.1.102.55. But if that is enabled, every time I try to enter the second lot of security on the Barclaycard login page Firefox crashes, but if it, and it alone of the addons, is disabled all is well. Would it be worth downloading an older version of Flash?

I have been through this page; When go to 'check your plugins' there is a red banner at the top which states "MISSING FLASH; For your safety, Firefox has disabled your outdated version of Flash. Please upgrade to the latest version". So I clicked on the 'upgrade text', which led me to what appeared to be the same version number as the old one; downloaded and installed it, but which seems to also call itself 11.1 r102 as well as 11.1.102.55. This if enabled causes the crash, so I disable it and the crash stops!

Would it be worth downloading an older version of Flash?
