I'm trying to open a book that's has an EPUB extension. Firefox doesn't open it. What am I doing wrong?

My sister-in-law gave me over 600 books and installed them on my laptop. The files have an EPUB extension. I downloaded Firefox to open the EPUBfiles but its not working. Can you please provide some suggestions.
