I'm on my laptop but sync is not an option in the 'option' tab. I'm running 8.01 firefox version.

Please try Tools (Alt + T) > Set Up Sync...

Sorry, I tried your suggestion and each time I do so, it gives me the same drop-down with the option box and Alt T does nothing. I can't understand why my desktop version has it and not the laptop?

You can try reinstalling Firefox over the current installation. Before that please try starting Firefox in Safe Mode and see if the options are back.

I have the answer. It seems that there is a YAHOO version of firefox and it is the downloading of Yahoo firefox that had the sync feature. I have sync'd both computers at this time. Thanks
