every time i do a search the results pops up on a new tab how do i stop this?
i just got the new version of fire fox help. ps i all ready tried Typing about:config into the address bar, and then putting browser.search.openintab into the filter box. and putting false

Is that with searching via the search bar on the Navigation Toolbar or with searching via the about:home page or the Google website?
on both no matter what i do i cant fix it
Start Firefox in Use Troubleshoot Mode in Firefox to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

doesnt safe mode erase your book marks?
Not if you do not make any changes on the Safe mode start window like removing the bookmarks.
