IMac using Firefox 8 and Yahoo as home page. When I click a news link it brings up the following error message - "Your browser sent a request that this server could not understand. Size of a request header field exceeds server limit". When I use Safari there isn't any problem.

That issue can be caused by corrupted cookies.

Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

"Clear the Cache":

  • Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"

"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:

  • Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"

I cleared out the cache and some cookies but that didn't help. I ended up clearing out all the cookies and that seems to have corrected the problem. Thank you.
