Firefox crashes

I have a clean install of Firefox 8 (having uninstalled v3.6.24) and on startup it goes directly to the crash reporter. Once the report is submitted, Firefox relaunches again directly to the crash reporter. Repeat ad infinitum. I am not using the Robo or Rapport programs, so I can't see this as the issue.

In the meantime, I have downgraded back to 3.6.24, which works.

Ah, we're on Oracle Enterprise here at work from what I know. This bug has been valid for us since version 7 so this makes sense. Hopefully they find a fix!
