Virus in Firefox.exe file, came back after I deleted and reinstalled.

Firefox picked up a virus that every so often doesn't open the site you want, instead opens a porn or fraud page instead. Norton says it originates from the FIREFOX.EXE file. I deleted Firefox and reinstalled and after one day it's back. Norton stops the attack, but we are still getting the dodgy web page each time. How can I completely nuke Firefox so this goes away prior to install. Or does Firefox have anything I can use to stop this from doing what it's doing?
