Why do I see "clk (GIF image, (1x1 pixels)" and web page is blank?

Recently I have tried to open several different web-sites, and nothing happens other than a box appears showing: "clk (GIF image, 1 x 1 pixels)". BT don't have an answer, perhaps you can help. The most recent one to do it was a Premier Inns sale notice page.

Thanks cor-el. I have done as you suggested and will see whether there is a recurrence of the problem next time I open a new page. I will let you know the outcome. Thanks again, jimha.

I said that I would let you know whether the problem has gone....yes, no more GIF image appearing. Thanks again, I will mark it "problem solved".
