can't get Firefox to download aborts with a couple of seconds left.

I uninstalled Firefox because I could not get it to run properly. I have had it for a long time before this problem happened. Now I am trying to download the Firefox program and it will not downloaded

It is possible that your anti-virus software is corrupting the downloaded files or otherwise interfering with downloading files by Firefox.

Try to disable the real-time (live) scanning of files in your anti-virus software temporarily to see if that makes downloading work.
