When opening Firefox many windows open.
When I open firefox, many windows open--up to 70. I stopped this behavior once by having Firefox not open my last session and opening a default window session a few times. I then set Firefox to open the last session again. After a few starts the problem has returned. I very much need Firefox to recover my tabs from previous sessions as it did cleanly in the past.

It is possible that there is a problem with the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
Delete the files sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak in the Firefox Profile Folder.
- Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Open Containing Folder
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
Deleting sessionstore.js will cause App Tabs and Tab Groups and open and closed (undo) tabs to get lost, so you will have to create them again (make a note or bookmark them).
I discovered the source of the problem. I use the ImTranslator add-on which opens a window to do translation. Firefox is opening a window on startup for every window opened by Imtranslator. Is there a way to set Firefox to open only previous tabs rather than all windows on startup?
