How can I access Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin?
Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin (in Firefox) is installed on my computer, but it is available to only a few applications. All the applications have a "Use other" application, but I cannot find the above mentioned plugin. Where do I "browse" to actually find it so I can use it with a particular application?

Firefox will use the WMP plugin automatically when you need it to view a supported media file.
You can see which MIME types are supported by a plugin on the about:plugins page.
You can open about: pages via the location bar like you open a website.

The information you referred me to allowed me to figure out what the name of the plugin file is that I am looking for. However, when I navigated to that file to enter it as the new plugin to use, the only thing that appeared was "No items match your search". Am I correct in assuming that this means that this plugin will not work for the application in question?
If that is true, is there a way to "force" it to use this plugin, just as a test to see if my hunch is correct?
What do you mean with that you want to use a plugin for your application?
You can't specify a plugin to use, you can only specify a program.
A plugin can only be used to handle specific content and show that in a Firefox tab.

OK. For example, for Windows Media Audio Shortcut, one of the options is Microsoft Windows Media Player Firefox Plugin (in Firefox). I want to try this plugin with Wave Sound (audio/x-wav), but when I navigate to it I get "No items match your search".
I presume this means that such a plugin will not work with audio/x -wav. But I stubbornly am wondering if there is any way to try it.
Do make that work you will have to change the audio/x-wav MIME type to a MIME type that is supported by the WMP plugin like type="application/x-mplayer2"
