How to limit download number

when I download numerous (30-50 files at once) files, firefox gets as many downloads simultaneously as possible (6-7 siml dwlds). I want to limit simultaneous download number to 2-3. could not find the option for that. I need it bec FFox occupies all connections and I can not use any other internet stuff that time.
