What do search engine keywords (in the search engine manager) do?
I use multiple search engines and would like to be able to change the active engine without having to open the menu and click the one I want. Is this possible? I assume that's what the "Keyword" field in the manager is for. I have assigned keywords but don't know how to use them.

Keywords that you assign via "Edit Keyword" in the Search Engine Manager work as quick searches via the location bar.
They work the same as when you create a bookmark and give it a keyword.
See the above posted link on how keyword searches work.
Such keywords are stored in search.sqlite in the Firefox Profile Folder

I have never seen a Keyword for any Search Engine in the Manage Search Engine List (I have 34 search engines installed, none show a Keyword), and I can't seem to find any documentation for adding a Keyword either. Maybe another "helper" will know more about that feature than I do.

I don't see anything about specifying a "keyword" when creating a Search Plugin either in Mozilla documentation.

There is a feature to do "keyword searches" from the Location bar, but that's different than what you are talking about with the Search Bar.
