Never had much luck with MSIME. Try this. I feel its easier to use once you get the hang of it.

I have the exact same problem. I first thought it's just Firefox, but I have the same problem when I typed in windows search box for programs and files. IE and windows messenger are fine. I'm afraid this would be IME's issue or even some kinds weird virus...
