Padlock Appears on Firefox Icon in Taskbar When Browser is Started

I start the Firefox Browser from an icon on the desktop. This icon does not have a padlock symbol in the upper right corner of the icon. When the Firefox Browser starts an icon with a padlock symbol located in the upper right corner of the icon appear on the taskbar. What is the significance or the padlock symbol? What causes the padlock symbol to appear? How do I disable this option? Is this a feature added with a recent update to Firefox?

Hi,

I suspect that it's not a padlock, but a briefcase, and that's your Firefox profile icon. Please see this article for more details.

The icon shouldn't be displayed if you only have one profile. Please check whether you've accidentally created another one. If so, and it's empty, you can safely delete it, and the icon should disappear.
