How do you look down through your emails and select multiples to delete? the answers I've found involve highlighting and deleting a bunch in a row. What about when there are a couple of keepers in the mix?

You are asking for a variation on a process you have not defined. But I will assume you are using the standard windows shortcut to select multiple items in a list of holding the shift key while clicking the first and last items.
Let go of the shift key and select the ctrl key and then clicking toggles the selected status of the individual items in the list.
If I have it wrong please take the time to explain exactly what you are doing and how.
I am having this problem because I started getting many many more emails than I used to. So many that it is impractical to read and delete each one, individually. At the same time there may be one or two I want to keep. The extra emails I am getting do not seem to be related to emails I am sending. Some concern accounts I have not set up. purchases I have not made and some are completely unintelligible because they are in languages I do not understand. What is going on? Why am I getting so many unrelated emails?
