When signing in with my password, the system is not happy. It will continually ask for the correct password. I will re-enter the same correct password until it finally accepts it. What's wrong?

Please remember that Thunderbird is just your agent, passing information to your email provider's server and returning responses to you. What you describe indicates communication problem happened in sending the password.
