Is https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1537432 a different issue?
no same issue. I thought I had deleted that once I figured out it was all yahoo accounts and not just one
All attempts to add Yahoo emails have ended in failure
Not exactly a comprehensive problem description. Please explain in detail
- what you're doing,
- what happens, and
- what you expect to happen.

I attempt to add a Yahoo email count via account setup, then a pop-up appears saying 'Edge: Too Many Requests'
I attempt to add a Yahoo email count via account setup
How? Automatic, or manual account setup?
then a pop-up appears saying 'Edge: Too Many Requests'
At which point of the setup process exactly?
Also, please post a screenshot of the error. https://support.mozilla.org/kb/how-do-i-create-screenshot-my-problem
For the past 24+ hours, one Yahoo account (but not the other) was reporting "Edge: Too many Requests" in a popup window; what was probably intended as an OAUTH2 window. I ended up deleting that account from TBird. The fix I found is this: In Thunderbird General Settings, there's "Account Hub" which is labeled "Experimental". For some reason, the "Create Accounts..." checkbox was enabled. I unchecked that box, then added the problematic Yahoo eMail address back into the Accounts. This time, the OAUTH2 window appeared as expected and I was able to finish the authorization and verification. Problem solved.
Still ticked off that TBird uses Edge for this. I logged into the target Yahoo account successfully using Firefox. I'd love to find a way to jettison Edge totally or at least get TBird to use Firefox for the OAUTH2 window.

No, TB does not use Edge for OAuth authentication. And it neither uses Firefox. The OAuth authentication window you get is from Thunderbird.
So "Edge: Too many requests" refers to what?
Thanks rumple. Your solution was just what I needed.
edgewebview2 is probably what's being used when that login popup window shows up. A thunderbird dev would know more.
I tried your solution rumple.
For me, this was not enabled and I receive the same error.
"Create Accounts..." checkbox was enabled.
Only the first checkbox was enabled. I'd turn off both as the entire category is entitles "Experimental". NFW, no thank you.
I have this problem, but with an existing Yahoo! account. Just in the last 24 hours too.
I also noticed it keeps loosing the security certificate. Related problem?
I shouldn't have to delete the account and re-add it, surely.
Keep having the same issues with a Yahoo account that was set up properly in Thunderbird for years. Was able to log into the account in browser fine. Tried to set it up again in TB but can't authorize as I get a blank window with the Edge: Too many requests error.

My situation exactly. Did you try my solution, above?
both of those checkboxes were unselected. what 's working for me so far is changing the authentication method to normal under account settings for the email account.
Wonder if that's not very secure.
Changing the authentication to Normal also made it work here instead of oAuth2.
Got to love waking up one day to someone having made a change somewhere without having tested anything :) That's the agile methodology for you :) break first, fix later.
Hi, I have this "Edge: Too Many Requests " as well.
Tried rumple's solution, and also changing the authentication method to normal.
Still unable to login at server, even though the account configuration is found.
I can add other non-yahoo accounts OK.
Does anybody have any other possible solutions?
Modified
I changed the Authentication Method to Normal password, but it didn't help and now there's no oAuth2 option in the dropdown.
Modified
Not saying this is the answer but I deleted the offending account and re-added it (after disabling the "Experimental" checkboxes).
