I accidentally resetted my password and can't sync from my old computer browser

I got a new PC and tried to sign in to my FireFox account to synchronize. But, foolishly, I ended up resetting my password! Don't know why did that, as I was able to locate my password stored elsewhere. I think this action erased all my data in my online profile & I cannot access my account data (bookmarks, user IDs & passwords) online.

Since my data was still in my old PC, I followed the directions for finding my Profile folder. I copied the folder contents to the Profile folder in the new PC. This has not worked.

I realize I wasn't supposed to copy the entire folder contents, which could be the reason why it's not working. Also, the profile folder contained a large amount of data (3 G). So, it's possible that not all files have been transferred correctly.

Please help me!

Thank you very much! Madoka

Chosen solution

Can you boot your old pc? Then open Firefox to see if your data is there.

Thank you for the suggestion!

I was able to solve it using the Export/Import Passwords function under the Passwords menu. I exported the passwords file from the FireFox browser in my old PC. This created a csv file. Then I imported the file in my new computer. The file was not very large and it was very simple. Phew!

I am not sure why I couldn't find this simple solution under help section. Instructions for copying Profile are a lot more complicated.

The Export/Import Passwords function did not change the bookmark issue. But I somehow managed to import the bookmarks from the old browser. I can't remember how I did it. Perhaps, copying the profile folder helped with this step. But I'm pretty sure I would have been able to copy bookmarks by importing smaller size files.

I hope there should be a big warning before completing the password reset process. Perhaps, there was a warning, but it did not get my attention.
