I had trouble during the installation of Thunderbird, it would not connect to my email account with Xfinity. However, I could connect via the web.

Finally, I tried the manual route and there (accepting all given entries) I was able to connect with Xfinity just fine. I hope this helps others. I think there may be a bug in the installation process.
