Starting yesterday not receiving email from xfinity, xfinity claims it is not them, on my end thunderbird says connection refused.

It probably WAS them. Xfinity/Comcast's email system has been sick since yesterday. I think it may be finally working OK for me now (but that could change.) How about you?

Sounds like your mail server settings might’ve changed. Double-check the incoming/outgoing server names, ports, and SSL in Thunderbird. Sometimes Xfinity updates those and you need to re-enter them.

Starting on 11/09, I'm not able to get my Xfinity email via Thunderbird. I can logon to the Xfinity Web Email interface so I'm pretty sure I have the password correct. I have been using POP3 for incoming. I tried changing to IMAP by creating a new Thunderbird account but still no luck.

Thunderbird says, "Thunderbird failed to find the settings for your email account."

Any suggestions?

I changed the SMTP config to use port 995 and it seemed to work. Not sure if Xfinity changed something or what but it's working now.

You probably mean you changed the IMAP port, rather than the SMTP port. The default IMAP port is 995 and the default SMTP port is 465 - Comcast uses the default for both.

My working settings for Comcast are:

Comcast IMAP Mail Settings Server Name: imap.comcast.net Port: 993 User Name: <your email address> Connection security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

Comcast SMTP Settings Server Name: smtp.comcast.net Port: 465 User Name: <your email address> Connection Security: SSL/TLS Authentication method: Normal password

I have been experiencing this problem off and on ever since the last update. I have tried to install a couple of alternative email programs and each of those indicate they cannot connect to xfinity email because xfinity email server is on a blacklist. Since my outlook 365 can connect without any issues I strongly suspect that Thunderbird is using some resource that identifies xfinity email servers as blacklisted. My alternative at this point is to go back to Outlook 365 which I despise.

I don't know what blacklist you're referring to, but I have used Thunderbird with Comcast/Xfinity's email service for many years and still do, with few problems. I know many other people who do, too. There has never been a blacklist in effect that I have ever seen.

The server settings I posted above last year are still the ones that I use successfully. Do they agree with yours?

By the way, it's better form to start a new conversation about your problem, rather than adding to an old one that may have been resolved months ago. The previous participants will be alerted but they may no longer be interested. But stay here for now.

I appreciate your response. I have used Thunderbird for over a year and only started having issues with the last upgrade. I haven't changed my xfinity settings and up until yesterday, I had received xfinity emails for the last couple of weeks since the last problem occurred. I don't know what blacklist either, but I tried setting up Mailspring and during the setup process when Mailspring tried to connect to xfinity an error message was returned indicating xfinity server was a blacklisted site. Regards
