We installed Thunderbird on a brand new laptop and immediately noticed that mail was being received from our ISP, but we were unable to send mail. After contacting our provider, they tried everything to correct the situation but were unsuccessful. We'v resorted to using Webmail because everything we have tried with Thunderbird hasn't solved the problem.

Maybe, if you post a screenshot of your SMTP server settings pane, plus all error messages, someone here may be able to assist.
