Hello,

Whenever I get new a new email I get a sound notification and a few seconds later it's followed by a second sound notification for the same email. The taskbar displays a notification for 2 new emails as well, when there is only one. Any ideas about this?

Thanks.

Settings/General/Incoming Mails, choose TB notifications or system notifications, but not both.

Thanks for the reply, but I'm not seeing the Thunderbird notifications option. See the attached image for my current notification settings.

Check 'Show an alert' to enable TB notifications, then check or uncheck 'Use the system...'. If the latter is checked, uncheck 'Show an alert' to avoid having TB notifications as well.

I tried but no luck. I'm not sure what would cause this in the first place, I didn't change any settings - it just suddenly started happening out of nowhere. I also got the same issue in the troubleshooting mode.

Using a gmail account where the same email is stored in multiple folders can cause this. IE import and inbox and all mail will all receive a copy due to the odd way google implement IMAP so it you have these folders subscribed, you will potentially get three new emails and three notifications.

I disabled the important folder at gmail and do not subscribe the all mail folder. I do not need two or more copies of everything.

I'm using two Comcast/Xfinity email accounts. Funny thing is, one of the accounts isn't having the issue any more but the other is. Could be something going on with Comcast's email.
