Hi Stephen,

  1. Account settings (in the folder pane, right click on the account and select "Settings")
  2. Click on the account that you want to remove.
  3. Use on "Account Actions" below the list of accounts.
  4. Select "Remove Account".

I have this problem too. I see no "Account Actions" in my thunderbird.
