As I logged on to Thunderbird this morning, I received a message about the program not being able to compact messages. Then I had a group of emails that either could not be opened or were composed of a lengthy email of letters and numbers that did not appear to be code. This occurred to a group of about 10 emails. The program is fine now. Anyway to restore these garbled or missing emails?

Try this: highlight the folder, rightclick and select properties and then select repair.
