very slow loading and keeps freezing

Firefox is very slow in loading, it can take up to 5 mins. This has now stated to happen each time I turn on my PC. When it has loaded it randomly freezes and does not respond. This is now becoming more often. Can you please help and advise what I can do to correct these problems. Thank you.
