New Computer. Installed Thunderbird. It doesn't remove deleted items from the server. No Contacts. What do I need to do?

New Computer. Windows 11. I installed Thunderbird. I get my email. It doesn't delete any deleted emails from the server. Also, contacts did not come over. I must have set something wrong. What do I need to do?

Please share more information. Is this a POP or IMAP account? I am not sure what you mean by 'contacts did not come over.' That is, if you have contacts on a web account, extra steps may be needed, so we would need to know what is your email provider before suggestions can be made.
