I am unable to post to my previous question so I am starting again. I was advised to run TB in safe mode and it did not help so:

So I ran TB in safe mode for a few days and same issue. 3 of my 4 hotmail addresses work fine and the 4th gives me the password/user name error from time to time.

From time to time means that it will be fine for a day or two then will start giving me the error message. I am not losing any messages because the issue is intermittent but sometimes when I check emails I have to delete up to 10 error messages. It is baffling since all settings for all accounts are exactly the same at the TB side and at the hotmail side.

Since it is happening to only one account I am considering abandoning the hotmail account which is too bad since I have had that account for over 25 years.

I am using TB 102.15.1 with W10 Pro - I did upgrade but nothing worked so downgraded back. This issue started about 3 weeks after the downgrade.

Also, very frustrating when I type this and hit "Post Reply" and get an error message - have to start all over again.
