"Extension Manager is not functional. My troubles started when I did a "Check Disc", and cleaned up my C drive. Unfortunately, my extensions were also gone from the toolbar. I checked my "Ad-ons and themes", but they are all there. Next I tried pinning them, but that didn't work, but in further analyzing, I got a yellow warning, something to-the effect that installing too many shortcuts, could cause problems. Rats; searching found nothing to even hint of fixing that yellow notification. Woe is me; seems I create another problem with no fix. The Extension Manager" panel only shows "Duckduckgo". I then uninstalled an extension by clicking on "Remove" Sure enough, it was no longer listed on the "Ad-ons ...." panel. I installed a fresh copy; but though it now shows up in the "Ad-ons ...." screen, the "Extension manager" still only shows the extension "Duckduckgo". I tried deleting another extension and re-installing it, but "Extension Manager" still is not functioning.

I then tried to restore to an earlier time, but there are no restore points. Thank you, "Check Disk". Restoring via "Profile" sounds intriguing, but if whatever changes I made via "Check Disk" are permanent, then I will have spent a lot of time laboriously hand copying preferences and whatever, and at 88 years young, my time remaining above ground, is finite, and is valuable to me.

Has anyone come across this weird problem? P.S. I did spend extensive time in the "Firefox Help" pages, but there is nothing in re this weird anomaly. Short of throwing this computer out of the window, does any one have any ideas other than re-installing FF, which I am wont to to do for reasons enumerate above? Whew! Pardon me for this long dissertation, but my nerves are starting to wear thin, and thanks so much for reading this interminable essay. Best regards, Nick M.

Firefox 109 comes with the Extensions button in the Navigation Toolbar as the new way to manage your extensions. The panel that opens if you click the Extensions button (puzzle piece icon) serves as overflow area for extensions you install. The legacy chevron (>>) overflow area still exists but is only used for built-in toolbar buttons as found in the Customize page.

In the Extensions button panel, you can click the gear icon Fx91GearIcon next to an extension or use the right-click context menu to pin the extension to the toolbar (Pin to Toolbar). To (re)move the extension from the toolbar back to the Extensions button panel, you can use "Unpin from Toolbar" in the right-click context menu.

Hi, Cor-el -

Shortly after sending my request for help, not being able to use the computer, I decided to bite the bullet, and after laboriously copying Extensions and Settings, I re-installed FF.

After inserting whatever I thought I might need, I checked into desktop. Lo and behold, there in the upper left was a folder, with old data. I haven't checked it out, but first chance. Sheer genius! All may not have been done in vain, as in other times, I have found errors in transitioning data.

The personnel working on FF deserve my belated thanks for creating a wonderful program. And the Extensions, designed by volunteers, are truly amazing. Kudos to all involved, including the forum volunteers, yourself, of course, included. It grieves me deeply, that most take the results of hard work and volunteerism for granted. So sorry about that.

The additional info you included, was very thoughtful of you, and much appreciated.. It is apparent you spent considerable thought and time in composing your helpful answer. Mucho thanx.

I must make note of the simple and direct language used by FF practitioners, in deference to the un-washed masses; me too, included. It strikes me that the Micro$oft engineers are an insecure lot, and no doubt spend considerable hours, re-re-writing their missives for the most bedeviling technospeak, to flout their superiority over us mere rabble. How unfortunate these self aggrandized people are. As they say in Brooklyn, "To each his own"; did I get that correct? Or, something to that effect.

Wishing you the very best, Nick M.
