Recently I wanted to install Firefox on this PC (my Dell laptop). Im using Windows 10 64-bit 19044.1415 OS build. I tried to use Firefox as I have been using chrome on my other past devices for years now. I tried to install FireFox multiple times for Windows 64x, but it didn't work; I used Mozilla's desktop download link. is there some particular download I need to get for my device? (all firmware is installed to its latest version)

'The Problem: I use the chrome browser literally for everything, and it is what I'm using to write this question. Anywho all other browsers, including Firefox, fail to load on my device; I've tried reinstalling, I've tried factory resetting my PC, and I've read countless articles on how to fix this, yet none has worked. The issue is when I click on the browser icon or try to run the program, Mozilla doesn't open. Instead, it shows a black screen for a split second, then nothing. And nothing works either. No amount of troubleshooting, firewall deactivating, hardware wiping, installing the latest version of java, and crap will work. It's absurd, and I'm genuinely frustrated. Can someone help me?

We're sorry to hear that your Firefox seems to be crashing when you open it. Please perform the following steps to give us a crash report ID that helps us find out more about the cause of the crash.

  1. On the keyboard, press [Windows] The image "Windows key" does not exist. + [R]. This should bring up a Run window that contains a text field.
  2. In that text field, type %APPDATA% and press Enter. An explorer window should open.
  3. From that explorer window, double-click on the Mozilla folder, then double-click on Firefox and then on Crash reports. Double-click on submitted.
  4. Now, you should see a list of files that contain reports. Go to View > Arrange Icons by > Modified to get the most recent files at the top of the window.
  5. Open the most recent 5 files with a text editor and copy the IDs.
  6. Paste each ID with bp- into the reply window on the forums.

Thanks in advance!

You can find more information and troubleshooting steps in the Troubleshoot Firefox crashes (closing or quitting unexpectedly) article.

You can check for issues caused by a corrupted or incomplete Visual C++ installation that is missing runtime components (Redistributable Packages) required by Firefox, especially VCRUNTIME140_1.dll.

See "Visual Studio 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2022":

You may also have to install the Visual Studio 2013 Redistributable Package. You need to reboot the computer.

I just installed the programs you provided and restarted my PC: good news and bad news. I can sort of see the firefox search bar when I open it. The bad news is that it only lasted for 0.5 seconds as it immediately closed. It still didn't work :/ Is my PC cursed? Is chrome the only browser I can use? Because similarly, browsers like opera, firefox, tor, and any C++-based browsers fail on my PC. It's so weird.

Ok, Updates, I can now see the firefox logo, but it closed after 3 seconds; at least I could see firefox and stuff now, but it still won't work. I still need help.
