Credit Union of Denver has an alert that Firefox may impede access to accounts, and it has been this way for over three weeks. When I try to login I get the notice "Security Code Mismatch." No other browser has this problem. Is anything being done to fix this well-known problem?

Good news--someone somewhere has fixed the problem. I was able to login and the credit union warning is gone.

Is this about a code that they e-mailed to you, or is the problem with the login password?

One user had a problem with passwords being wrong. They solved the problem by removing all of that website's data from the Password Manager and manually entering the login data.

This is a problem with the login security code such as "3e8n."

Possibly this is a cookie-related issue. Let me elaborate.

Firefox 96 changed some of its SameSite/cross-site cookie handling to work like Chrome and Edge. However, various sites that work with Chrome/Edge do not work with Firefox now, possibly because they are sending different cookies to different browsers. Problems have been reported on Bing, Canvas/Kaltura, and Popmoney.

To test whether this is the problem, you can temporarily roll back the main change to the Firefox 95 setting. This requires going under the covers:

(A) In a new tab, type or paste about:config in the address bar and press Enter/Return. Click the button accepting the risk.

More info on about:config: Configuration Editor for Firefox. The moderators would like us to remind you that changes made through this back door aren't fully supported and aren't guaranteed to continue working in the future.

(B) In the search box in the page, type or paste laxByDefault and pause while the list is filtered

(C) Double-click the network.cookie.sameSite.laxByDefault preference to switch the value from true to false

Most likely, that will take effect immediately, but in some cases, you might need to clear existing cookies for the site or quit Firefox and start it up again.

Hopefully we will get a better understanding of how to set site-specific exceptions in the future so users can benefit from higher security on compatible sites.

Thank you for the temporary fix idea. Based on previous bad experiences implementing these types of changes, I'm hesitant to try it because of the high probability that it won't work for my particular system and/or some other unintended problem will occur that's even harder to reverse. Is Mozilla working on a permanent fix? If so, I can hold out for a short while by using Edge. If they are not working on a fix, my only option would be to switch to Edge permanently.

I think the developers have a few bug reports on file already about sites that are not compatible with the change. A change has gone in to address a problem with Bing, but it's only for Bing. Other sites will need to be analyzed and considered individually.

Great! Now I find that I cannot login to Pentagon Federal Credit Union. I have forgotten what the advantage of having Firefox over Microsoft Edge is.
