The action for the backspace key to navigate back or forward in history is set via the browser.backspace_action pref on the about:config page if that is what you mean.

To disable or enable the Backspace keyboard shortcut, you can change the browser.backspace_action pref on the about:config page. 

0 goes Back/Forward
1 act like PgUp/PgDown
2 and other values, nothing

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can click the button to "Accept the Risk and Continue".
