I can access the login page of the online course I am taking but cannot enter the course. It could be a firewall but I have no idea and neither does my husband. It started when he got a new lap top and linked/synced to our desktop.

Make sure you are not blocking content.

Start Firefox in Safe Mode {web link}

A small dialog should appear. Click Start In Safe Mode (not Refresh). Is the problem still there?
