SmartBlock on Update 87.0 (64 bit) Breaking Sites
Always browsed in Private mode with Strict tracking controls. All sites worked, including videos. After update to 87.0, videos will not run on sites. I've added nothing else since the update and have not changed any settings. I would prefer to not go to "Standard" controls. Any help or advice out there for someone who is definitely not a computer guru??? Many Thanks!
1) I tried turning off Protection: no help. 2) I tried the about:config recommendation: sorry, no change. And if it takes more then that to solve it, it's way above my head! Thanks!

Enter about:config in the URL bar and set extensions.webcompat.enable_shims = false. Confirm if it helps!
Do the videos work if the disable Enhanced Tracking Protection ?
Firefox shows a purple shield instead of a gray shield at the left end of the location/address bar in case Enhanced Tracking Protection is blocking content. You can click shield icon for more detail and possibly disable the protection. You can check the Web Console for messages about blocked content.

Note that it isn't guaranteed that you do not break a website if you activate any kind of content blocking, either via ETP or via an extension. Websites can change what content they load from external servers. SmartBlock works by loading specific blocked content from another server or has files builtin.

If you use extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) that can block content (Adblock Plus, NoScript, DuckDuckGo PE, Disconnect, Ghostery, Privacy Badger, uBlock Origin) always make sure such extensions do not block content.
- make sure your extensions and filters are updated to the latest version

Thank you all for helping this non-computer guy. Allow me to ask the question differently: If I used Firefox on Windows 10 before in Private mode with Strict controls AND WITH uBlock Origin and Malwarebytes blocking content and third party cookies, etc. - and all sites worked well (including videos), shouldn't these same sites continue to work AFTER Firefox was updated to release 87.0 ? Shouldn't the updated Firefox, including SmartBlock, work without forcing me to disable things that worked before? Or said another way: shouldn't the update make things easier and better? Not trying to start an argument here; just looking to understand. Many Thanks again!
Win7_64 bit here. Today. Had 2 use Edge 4 NavyFederalCreditUnion login. They said lots of complaints from FF users. FF87.0 was denied all screens. 87.0 blocks downloads of older FF versions. Edge worked again. Youtube full screen mode stopped working w/FF87.0.
Going back 2 FF86.0.1 downloaded w/Edge. All worked B4 update 2 FF87.0.
