Custom file for custom application being downloaded as text file, appending ".txt"

When I download a file with my custom extension, i.e. "sample.abc", it is becoming "sample.abc.txt"

This does not happen in Google Chrome. Any idea why this is coming over as "text/plain" mimetype and how to fix it?

How does the server send this file if you check this in the Network Monitor or Web/Browser Console (XHR) ?

Can you modify the filename before saving this file ?
