How do I deslect 'delect cookies and site data when firefox closes.' It says I am in 'permanent private browing mode' and I don't want this.

The option to deselect is greyed out.

Chosen solution

Note that in permanent Private Browsing mode cookies automatically expire (a special in memory cookie jar is used) if you close Firefox, that is the reason that "Delete cookies and site data when Firefox is closed" is disabled because this happens automatically.

Make sure you do not run Firefox in permanent Private Browsing mode (Always use Private Browsing mode; Never Remember History).

  • Options/Preferences -> Privacy & Security
    Firefox will: "Use custom settings for history"
  • remove checkmark: [ ] "Always use Private Browsing mode"
