Steps to reproduce:

Sadly the problem is intermittent. It has happened 6X in the last week. Here are the steps I took immediately before FF unexpectedly quit

1) Ctrl-F to open Find in Page box 2) Type some text 3) Switch out of the browser 4) Switch back to FF (cursor is still in the Find box) 5) Press Esc to exit Find

Observed outcome: Firefox unexpectedly quits. When I open, I am able to restore previous session.

Desired outcome: Find box closes

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions ("3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Extensions) or if hardware acceleration or userChrome.css is causing the problem.

  • switch to the DEFAULT theme: "3-bar" menu button or Tools -> Add-ons -> Themes
  • do NOT click the "Refresh Firefox" button on the Safe Mode start window

Boot the computer in Windows Safe mode with network support to see if that has effect in case security software is causing problems.
